The Deebot T10 Omni offers a premium hands-free experience for cleaning floors. It doesn't have the ability to discern things like cords and socks and so it gets through them.
The new T10+ is a much improved model. It has a better navigation system, and does not have the camera that was on the earlier models. Ecovacs instead chose to use lasers and a structured light source to aid in navigation. This is a smart decision because it allows the T10 to avoid furniture and obstacles more effectively.
The T10+ also has an automatic dock that cleans and dry the mopping pads, preventing the growth of bacteria. It also has a powerful suction capacity of 8,000Pa and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant for voice control. It is also the most expensive robotic vacuum in our line-up however it is a great option for homes with a lot of carpeted areas.
While all pet robot vacuums have a certain level of intelligence, some are more advanced than others. For instance, some have the capability to create a customized cleaning schedule and choose which rooms to clean. Some dust bins are larger, which reduces the frequency of emptying them. The iRobot application lets you see a map of all the areas it has cleaned and you can set the cleaning preferences.
When we tested it on bare floors the 960 did an outstanding job. It picked up a great deal of debris on the surface, including cereal, and did a great job of removing embedded debris. It isn't bad on carpets with low piles however it loses steam when the dirt compartment is filled up. It also has a few pieces that need to be replaced frequently.
It scored highly in our Home Coverage Test which is 20% of the robot's total score. It covered the entire furnished room, which is more than any other robot we have evaluated. The 960 also did an excellent job on the stairs, which is not easy for most robots to tackle. It did not do as well on carpets as the 980 or our top choice one, the Neato Botvac D80, but it did manage to do an excellent job.
It's a bit more expensive than the D80 however it comes with an impressive set of smart features and a bigger dustbin. The 960 is an excellent choice if you don't mind sacrificing the ability to navigate and detect obstacles but still want to have excellent debris removal. It is also less expensive than the 980, meaning it will have fewer recurring costs.
4. Roomba 980 from iRobot
The Roomba 980 is iRobot's most powerful robot vacuum and their top model for tackling pet hair. It's slightly more expensive than some of the other options on this list, but it has a blend of brains and muscle that makes it one of the most efficient robot vacuums on the market. It comes with the tread to go over uneven floors, the suction to get rid of cat litter that's scattered throughout your home, and connectivity to allow you to control it remotely and even arrange cleanings from distance.
It's also the most intelligent robot vacuum we've tested. It utilizes iRobot's most sophisticated software to map your home and plan the best course of action for cleaning. To do this, it utilizes a camera, an on-board sensor, and a unique algorithm called VSLAM (Visual Simultaneous Localization and Mapping).
Despite being able to navigate its way around your home with ease The Roomba 980 isn't a perfect machine.
